Tessa, like the other dogs I got from Joan Horton (Can Ch Ashbury’s Pastel Rainbows and Can & Phil Hall of Fame Ch Ashbury’s Hot Property), fits my definition of what an ideal show dog should be. Like the energizer rabbit, she just “explodes” in the ring. Never a dull moment with Tessa as she is all over the place. I rarely see a Shih Tzu more showy than this little 11-pound ball of red & white fur.
Unlike Rambo, Ricardo & Cookie, who would only perform with me at the end of the leash, Tessa didn’t care whoever showed her. No matter who handled her, she always performed like a pro. Very happy in the ring, she was a sight to behold. Tessa retired with 12 All-Breed BEST IN SHOW wins and six other BIS placements. She wasn’t shown as extensively as Cookie & Ricardo but she nevertheless did her share of winnings, making her the AKCUPI’s very first NATIONAL DOG OF THE YEAR. She won the breed 75% of the time and retired after a very successful career in the ring to become the mother of three gorgeous puppies sired by Ch TRITON. Tessa is also co-owned with Edwin & Irene Tan-Luy of OPTIMUM & TRITON SHIH TZU.
