Mitzi was co-owned with Theresita Santos of SONORA KENNEL. Her name Mitzi came about because her breeder, Brenda McKnight (Loubren) wanted to call her Mitzubishi, as in the Japanese-made car. Mitzi was Brenda’s pick of the litter and came to us at seven months old. Mitzi was cared for by Thes and shown by George Bueno in the Philippines. At the age of six, after having three litters, she became the Philippines’ first Shih Tzu to win the much-coveted “Dog of the Year” title. Mitzi sealed the bond of friendship between Thes and I that later on she became the god mother to my only son Jason. We travelled the whole country showing Mitzi and it enabled me to tour southern Philippines. I was able to travel to places in the country that I never thought I would visit. We stayed in five-star hotels in Cebu to tiny motels in Bacolod; any place that would accept dogs. Sometimes Thes’ daughter, Shiela would tag along in the trips and we would spend sleepless nights telling stories and having the time of our life.
